David C. Rose is professor of economics and Chair of the department of economics at the University of Missouri—St. Louis. His most recent book, The Moral Foundation of Economic Behavior, will be published by Oxford University Press in 2011.
Professor Rose received his Ph.D. in 1987 from the University of Virginia. His most recent published paper, “Competition, Cooperation, and the Neighboring Farmer Effect” (Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, 2009), explains how cooperation can emerge spontaneously to promote technological adoption even among rival firms in a highly competitive market. Through his articles and op-eds in publications such as the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Forbes, the Washington Times, and the Christian Science Monitor, Professor Rose is a frequent contributor to policy debates on topics including Social Security, monetary and fiscal policy, and health care reform, .
