John Hasnas (Speaker)

John Hasnas is an associate professor of business at the McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University and a visiting associate professor of law at the Georgetown University Law Center.  His most recent book is Trapped: When Acting Ethically is Against the Law (Cato Institute, 2005).

Professor Hasnas received his B.A. in philosophy from Lafayette College, his J.D. and Ph.D. in legal philosophy from Duke University, and his LL.M. in legal education from Temple University School of Law.  From 1997 to 1999, he served as Assistant General Counsel to Koch Industries, Inc.  His scholarship is concerned with ethics and white collar crime, jurisprudence, and legal history.  He has held apppointments at Georgetown, Duke University, George Mason University, and the Washington College of Law at American University.  He has been a Law and Humanities Fellow at the Temple University School of Law and a visiting scholar at both the Kennedy Institute of Ethics and the Social Philosophy and Policy Center.
